Making God's Word Personal

Topics: Believing, Bible

What you do:   Say, “This week we have an assignment that we want you to do that will help you learn more about what God’s word says about His just nature.”

Pass out assignment and review instructions with students. Once completed, ask the children if it made them think any differently about the passage once they personalized it with their own names. Ask them to review and think about what the scriptures are telling them throughout the week.

 Directions:

1. Read verse # 1 as it appears in the Bible.

2. Personalize the verse by writing your name in the blank spaces of the second paragraph.

3. Read the new verse as it applies to you.

4. Do the same thing with verse #2.

Verse #1

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself

for the day of God's wrath, when His righteous judgment  will be revealed. God will "give to each person

according to what he has done."  (Romans 2:5-6)

But because of ___________'s stubbornness and ___________'s un-repented heart, he/she is storing up

wrath against himself/herself for the day of God's wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed. God

will "give to ___________ according to what he/she has done." (Romans 2:5-6)

Verse #2

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all

unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

If _________ confesses his/her sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive __________’s sins and purify

him/her from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
